Andover cheerleaders qualify for competition

The Andover Apaches Youth Cheerleaders must raise $12,000 within the next few months to go to an international competition in March in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Apaches recently qualified to compete in the Can-Am Cheerleading Championship scheduled for March 26 through March 28.

The competition will include squads from the United States and Canada and will be televised nationally on the ESPN cable network.

Ann Sparkman, commissioner of cheerleading, asks that donations be sent to the Andover Apaches, P.O. Box 196, Linthicum 21090.


* Brooklyn Park: Vandals smashed the windshield of a 1978 Chevrolet Impala parked in the 100 block of W. Hilltop Road Friday.

* Brooklyn Park: Burglars broke into the 49er's Bingo Hall in the 900 block of Church St. Thursday. Police do not know exactly what was taken.

* Linthicum: Someone broke into a 1988 Toyota Corolla parked in the 700 block of Riverside Drive Thursday night. Nothing was taken.

* Linthicum: Someone smashed the window of a 1986 Dodge Caravan parked in the 200 block of Sycamore Road Friday.

* Linthicum: Vandals smashed the window of a 1992 Ford truck parked in the 6400 block of St. Phillips Road Friday.

* Brooklyn Park: Thieves broke into a 1989 Ford parked in the 200 block of Cresswell Road Friday and took a compact disc holder and a briefcase.

* Brooklyn Park: A wallet with $55 in it was stolen from a home in the 400 block of Townsend Ave. Saturday.

* Brooklyn Park: Thieves took a bicycle from the front porch of a home in the 100 block of W. Hilltop Road Saturday.
