2 Prince George's men charged with possession of cocaine

Two Prince George's County men were arrested Saturday and charged with drug possession when police allegedly broke up a drug deal in Laurel, Howard County police said.

Taurus Lorenzo Jackson, 20, of the 3800 block of 71st Ave., Landover Hills, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute, police said. He was released from the Howard County Detention Center after posting $5,000 bond, a correctional officer said.

Kelvin Darnell Chapman, 20, of the 4000 block of 70th Ave., Landover, was charged with the same violations, police said. He was being held in lieu of $5,000 bond at the detention center.

Howard police said the men were taken into custody shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday when members of the Police Department's street drug section interrupted a drug transaction in the rear of a Ramada Inn in the 9900 block of Washington Blvd.

Police said they found $64 and seven rocks of cocaine worth $350 on Mr. Jackson. His AMC Eagle also was seized in the arrest.

According to police, Mr. Chapman was carrying one $20 rock of cocaine in his pocket. Eight rocks of cocaine worth $160 also were found in a strip search, police said.
