Troy Green, Old Mill

Boys Basketball

Green scored 57 points, including 33 in a 62-55 victory over Southern (5-4) on Friday that improved the defending 4A Region IV champion Patriots' record to 2-3 overall.

Top Female

Michelle Smith, Old Mill

Indoor Track

Smith won two events and placed in two others to account for 34 points individually and pace the Patriots to a 141-74.5 victory over Severna Park in Thursday's indoor track meet at Baltimore's Fifth Regiment Armory.

Girls Basketball

Amy Langville, Spalding

Langville led the Cavaliers to victories over Glenelg (53-40), John Carroll (63-48) and Mount de Sales (56-27).


North County team

The mat squad (1-3-1) halted half of the Knights' winter nightmare -- the boys' basketball team has lost 36 in a row -- with a 37-30 decision over Annapolis (0-3) Friday. Heavyweight Jimmy Lee capped the Knights' first victory in 19 matches with a fall in 20 seconds. Other pins were posted by James Collins (103), Jason Stiegler (112), Shawn Potwin (125) and Butch Springfield (171).


Kristi Kroliczek


Kroliczek won a key 500-meter freestyle event (5:53.23) to lift the Cavaliers to their first victory in the school's initial season in the sport. The Cavaliers beat City, 83-82, in the MSA B Conference.
