Gunman robs Blockbuster Video

An armed robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash after ordering a clerk in the Blockbuster Video store in the Hickory Ridge Village Center to empty the cash registers, Howard County police said.

No one was injured during the robbery, which occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the store in the 6400 block of Freetown Road, police said.

Police said a man walked to the counter, displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The clerk complied, and the suspect fled on foot toward Altholton High School, police said.

The robber was described as a white male, between 30 and 40, 6 feet tall with a medium build, police said. He was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, brown pants and work boots.


* Wilde Lake: 10500 block of Tolling Clock Lane: Someone smashed a window with a hammer between 10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday and was seen climbing on a porch. The person fled, possibly after seeing the resident. He was described as a dark-skinned black male with a medium build. He was wearing a big, bulky coat and a Los Angeles Lakers hat.
