Accomplishments: He is editor of the school newspaper, The Lion's Tale, and is vice president of the National Honor Society. He is on the varsity tennis team and earned the school's scholar-athlete award in ninth, 10th and 11th grades. He was a class executive officer for three years.

He was a winner in the Howard County Essay Contest, "Priorities for the Nineties," and was a semifinalist in the National Council of Teachers of English Writing Contest. He was his school's ambassador for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar in 1991.

Outside of school, he is treasurer of the Patuxent AZA Jewish Youth Group.

Comments: "Working on the newspaper gave me a sense of accomplishment every time it came out. I learned how to deal with my peers -- getting them to meet deadlines and working with other people to accomplish their goals. It's been really fun."

Goals: He has been accepted to Duke University, where he intends to major in political science or public policy.
