Shell station robbed a second time

An armed robber hit an Ellicott City service station Saturday, the second robbery at the station in the last month.

County police said a man entered the St. John's Shell station in the 9000 block of Baltimore National Pike about 11:40 p.m.

The man handed the clerk a note that read: "Give up the money or I'll shoot you," police said.

After the clerk handed over less than $100, the man fled on foot, police said. Investigators followed footprints in the snow to Chevrolet Drive, where police think the robber got into a car.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early- to mid-20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build and a slight beard, police said. He was wearing a hooded blue sweat shirt and blue jeans.

The man never displayed a gun during the robbery, police said. No one was injured during the incident.

The station was robbed Dec. 15 after a man gave the clerk a note demanding money, police said. The note implied that the robber had a weapon. Police think the suspect is responsible for two other robberies at businesses along U.S. 40 in early December.

The other robberies were at a Mobil service station Dec. 12 and at Signet Bank Dec. 11.
