Owens Landing condominiums opening in Perryville

Owens Associates of Perryville will hold a grand opening this week for Owens Landing, a 114-unit, three-story condominium development under construction on the waterfront in Perryville.

Located on River Road just north of Broad Street in Perryville -- the site of the "old fish house" -- Owens Landing includes 204 boat slips that are available for sale or lease.

The basic Owens Landing condominium has 1,335 square feet of space, and prices start at $124,900 for residences 80 feet from the water and at $154,900 for residences 30 feet from the water. Second-floor units with a third-level, 620-square-foot loft sell for more. Each unit has two bedrooms. The loft is flexible space that can be used for bedrooms, recreation rooms or an extra bath.

An invitation-only preview of two furnished models will be held Friday from noon to 4 p.m.

It will be followed by a grand opening to the general public Saturday and Sunday,from noon to 5 p.m. each day. After that, the sales center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

John Alt and Craig Purcell designed the condominiums and a division of the Clark Turner Companies is building them.

The Seller's Connection Inc. of Cecil County is handling sales.

Michael Fox Auctioneers of Baltimore and the Friend Group of New York are joining forces to hold a multiproperty, multiseller real estate auction Feb. 18 consisting solely of hotel and motel properties throughout the East Coast and Midwest. All the hotels and motels have been put up for sale voluntarily by their owners, and properties are still being accepted for inclusion in the auction.

Fox will also hold an auction Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. to sell a one-acre parcel in Chevy Chase that is zoned for high-rise residential development. The land is between The Hills Plaza and Friendship Boulevard in the Friendship Heights area of Chevy Chase. The auction will be held in the Holiday Inn-Friendship Heights, 5520 Wisconsin Ave.

* Baltimore-based interior designer Rita St. Clair is one of 33 women whose work is featured in "Women in Design," an exhibition that will open Wednesday at the National Building Museum, 401 F Street N.W. in Washington. It will run through May 9.

* Jeanne Chandler, president of Benchmark Appraisal Group, was elected president of the Maryland Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. The organization was formed by the recent merger of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers and the American Institute Real Estate Appraisers.
