Alzheimer's center construction scheduled

Construction of the Copper Ridge facility for Alzheimer's patients will begin in March on the grounds of Fairhaven in Sykesville, the Town Council was told this week.

The new building will also house an adult day-care center.

The facility will provide about 180 jobs and will be "a great training area," said Sykesville Mayor Lloyd R. Helt Jr.

The Town Council recently approved plans to widen Obrecht Road at the entrance to Fairhaven to facilitate the increase in traffic, once Copper Ridge is completed in about two years.
