Trucks collide on Route 140

January 08, 1993|By Bill Talbott | Bill Talbott,Staff Writer

Two tractor-trailers, loaded with a combined weight of 88,000 pounds of rolled paper, collided on Route 140 at Englar Road at the beginning of evening rush hour yesterday.

L No one was injured in the accident, which occurred at 4 p.m.

The trucks, each carrying a container from the Port of Baltimore to Camp Springs, Pa., were westbound on Route 140 when the leading driver saw the traffic light turn amber and tried to stop.

The driver told state police he was hit from behind and pushed through the intersection by the second vehicle, which was wedged several feet under the first truck.

Because oil and antifreeze covered the intersection, county workers spread sand and absorbent material over the liquids.
