Man found sleeping in a car charged with drug possession

County police charged a man with possession of cocaine after they found him asleep in a car in Ferndale Tuesday.

According to the police report, officers were called to the 100 block of W. First Ave. at 7:30 a.m. to check on a suspicious person.

When they arrived, they found James Alfred Crawford, 56, asleep in a car with the engine running. He told the officers he was waiting for a friend and did not have a driver's license. Police checked his record and found that he was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court.

While searching his car, police found found crack cocaine and cocaine powder under the passenger side front seat and a brass smoking pipe. Police also seized $964 and a $4,000 cashier's check.

Mr. Crawford, who lives in Glen Burnie, also was charged with possession of paraphernalia and unlawful manufacturing of cocaine.

Disorderly conduct charged after party

A 19-year-old Brooklyn Park man was charged with disorderly conduct and intoxication after police were called to his neighborhood to break up a party Monday.

According to the police report, officers were called to the 900 block of First St. at 9:20 p.m. by neighbors complaining about some people at a home there who were drinking, breaking bottles outside and making a lot of noise.

When officers arrived, a man outside one of the homes was yelling obscenities and telling the officers to leave.

Police took Jonathan E. Beemel, of the 900 block of First St., to Northern District to be charged.


* Brooklyn Park: The tires and rims were stolen from a 1977 Chevrolet Malibu parked in an alley behind the 5200 block of Wasena Ave. Monday. The value of the property was not known.

* Brooklyn Park: Burglars broke into a garage in the 200 block of Doris Ave. Monday and took boat motors, fishing equipment and tools valued at $3,500.

* Brooklyn Park: A resident told police someone broke into the shed in the backyard of his home in the 300 block of 10th Ave. Tuesday night and took two bicycles. The property is valued at $230.

* Linthicum Heights: Vandals smashed the window of a 1990 Isuzu parked in the lot at Fairlanes Bowling on Fairview Road Tuesday.
