A woman was injured after a pickup truck hit her car broadside, flipping it and causing it to slide about 100 feet along Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City yesterday afternoon.

County police said the woman, whose name was not released, was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier east on Baltimore National Pike when the GMC pickup truck ran a traffic light at the Ridge Road intersection shortly before 3 p.m.

The woman was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. There were no passengers in her car. The truck appeared to be lightly damaged. The name of its driver was not available.

Rescue workers put the woman in neck and back braces after getting her out of the flipped car through the car's passenger door.
