Drop-off, pickup schedule for Christmas trees

January 06, 1993

Christmas tree drop-off points (remember to remove al ornaments and tinsel):

* Hampstead: On Route 88, just past Dogwood Drive.

* Manchester: At Victory Street across from the salt bin. On Saturday, Jan. 16 and Jan. 23, a city worker will be there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to hand out seedling coupons.

* Mount Airy: The town will pick up trees curbside Monday. Anyone who wants to get rid of a tree earlier or later may take it to Prospect Park during regular park hours.

* New Windsor: The Town Council is expected to decide the details for pickup or drop-off at its meeting tonight, said Mayor James Carlisle. He said the town will probably pick them up on a Saturday in January, but trees may be dropped off at the red recycling bins off Gehr Lane.

* South Carroll: Piney Run Park on Saturday and Jan. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., when coupons for spring seedlings will be handed out. Other times, drop off trees on the grassy area near the recycling bins in front of the park entrance.

* Sykesville: The town will pick up trees with regular recyclables beginning today.

* Taneytown: Taneytown Memorial Park on Saturday, where for most of the day, a city worker will hand out seedling coupons. Also Saturday, the Taneytown utility crew and volunteer firefighters will pick up trees from residents within city limits. Trees must be out on the curb by 8 a.m.

* Westminster: Through Jan. 31, drop off trees at the city-owned vacant lot at the rear of the public works maintenance shop, Tuc Road and Locust Street.

City residents who don't want to drop off trees at the lot may call the public works maintenance shop at 848-9077 to arrange for curbside pickup.
