Body of man, 24, found in Clifton Park-area alley

The body of a 24-year-old Clifton Park-area man was foun last night lying in an alley near his home, police said.

The slaying was the city's fifth this year in as many days.

Homicide detective William Ritz said Northeastern District officers responding to a report of shots fired in an alley between the 1600 and 1700 blocks of E. 25th St. at 10:30 p.m. found the body of Robert Sylvester Jones, of the 1600 block of E. 25th St.

Detective Ritz said Mr. Jones, who was training to be a barber, was pronounced dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound to the head.

He said evidence found at the scene indicated the slaying may have been drug-related. He declined to describe the evidence.

The detective said Mr. Jones left his home about 10:15 p.m., telling his parents he was going to the store.
