Commissioners to inaugurate library and senior center

The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting by the Carroll County commissioners to open the new Mount Airy Library and Senior Center facility at 3 p.m. Friday.

The 27,000-square-foot facility is the second of its kind in Carroll to house both a senior center and a library.

The library on the lower level will be the fifth full-service public library in the county system. The senior center occupies the upper floor and will provide meeting rooms, a kitchen, arts and crafts areas for the Mount Airy seniors group that has been meeting since September 1976.

The Mount Airy Library/Senior Center is at 703 and 705 Ridge Ave. Assistance for the disabled is available through Jolene Sullivan, Carroll County Americans with Disabilities coordinator, 848-4049.

In case of bad weather, the ribbon-cutting will be postponed to Jan. 15.
