Man's body found in bay D

KENT ISLAND -- A man's body was discovered yesterday afternoon, washed ashore near the entrance to Kent Moor Harbor on the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay, state natural resources police reported.

The identity of the body, a white male in his early 40s, was withheld by authorities pending the notification of relatives.

However, police have been searching in that area of the bay for the body of the kayaker presumed to have drowned while trying to paddle across the Chesapeake Bay.

He has been missing since Dec. 5.

An autopsy is to be conducted today at the state medical examiner's office in Baltimore.
