Odenton logo contest attracts only one entry

With only one week left in the contest to design a logo to represent the Odenton area, only one person has submitted an entry.

The contest sponsor, the West Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce, doesn't want people to forget.

"We are hoping for more participation," said Marica Hall, the executive director. "But the contest is not over yet. Maybe

people are waiting for the holidays to end."

The deadline is Jan. 8. Ms. Hall said she may extend the contest, which has run for several weeks.

The chamber is looking for a logo that captures the quality of life in the greater Odenton area. It will be used on business and promotional materials and is part of a campaign to boost business interests in the community.

The winner will receive a $100 savings bond from the Odenton Savings and Loan and two round trip Amtrak tickets to Atlantic City courtesy of Cruise & Travel Service in Odenton.

Logos must be received by the chamber, in the 8300 block of Piney Orchard Parkway, no later than Friday, Jan. 8. West County residents grade 9 through adult may enter. Contest rules can be obtained from Ms. Hall at 672-3422.

Ms. Hall said the one entry came from an Odenton resident, but she would not disclose further details until after the deadline.
