57 children of jailed parents get gifts

Members of Brooklyn United Methodist Church provided Christmas gifts for 57 children whose fathers are in jail.

The children's names, clothing sizes and toy preferences were written on angels that were hung on a tree outside the church. Church members chose an angel and bought that child gifts.

At a party before Christmas, church members distributed the gifts, given in the children's fathers' names. The church also donated Christmas dinners to the children's families.

"These children are often the forgotten victims of a crime," said Richard W. Andrews, pastor of the church at Fourth Street and Pontiac Avenue.
