Pair robs Econo Lodge of cash on Christmas Eve

A Laurel motel was robbed by a man and a woman on Christmas Eve, county police reported.

The suspects, one armed with a kitchen knife, entered the Econo Lodge motel at the 9700 block of Washington Blvd. about 8 p.m. and demanded cash from a clerk. The man walked behind the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

Then both suspects forced the clerk into a rear area and tied her up. The clerk was not injured, police said.

One suspect is described as a 25- to 28-year-old black male weighing around 185 pounds. He was wearing a dark jacket and a red baseball cap.

The other suspect is described as a 25- to 28-year-old white female with a medium build. She had reddish-brown hair and was wearing a purple knit cap and a dark coat.

* North Laurel: 9500 block of Sylvan Still Road: Presents and checks weretaken between 6:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 22 from a residence that showed no signs of forced entry.
