Christmas services abound in Pasadena churches PASADENA

My message is brief,

but it's meaning is clear.

Have a very Merry Christmas, Pasadena!

And a great New Year!

Local congregations and parishes have scheduled Christmas services and invite you and your family to worship with them this holiday season.

* Chesapeake Christian Center Church of God, 7975 Tick Neck Road, will gather for a candlelight Communion service at 7 p.m. ** tonight.

* Community United Methodist Church, 8680 Fort Smallwood Road, has scheduled two services this evening.

Families can attend the 7 p.m. service and enjoy a presentation of "G.T. and the Halo Express" performed by the youth and cherub choirs.

The traditional candlelight service will begin at 11 p.m.

* Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 8615 Fort Smallwood Road, will have a special Sunday church school program and two worship services this evening.

At 6:30 p.m., Sunday school students will present their annual Christmas program, "Tell Us the Christmas Story."

At 8 p.m., there will be a family service with lessons and carols and an 11 p.m. candlelight Communion service.

* Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road, has scheduled services this evening at 7:30 and 11.

The early service for families will include carols and candles. tTC There will be Holy Communion and carols offered at the 11 p.m. candlelight service.

* Tonight, a Christmas musical, "Make His Name Glorious," will be presented at the 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. services at Lake Shore Baptist Church, 4613 Mountain Road.

The musical, under the direction of Linda Kay Funk, will feature a variety of traditional and contemporary music with actors, narration and audience participation.

Magothy-Chelsea Community Lutheran Church, Third and Beach streets, will celebrate on Christmas Eve with 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. services.

* Magothy United Methodist Church, 3703 Mountain Road, will have three services this evening.

A family service will begin at 5 p.m. and feature the children's choir, followed by a combined Communion service with Magothy Church of the Deaf, with the Rev. Margaret Hodges presiding.

A traditional candlelight service with the adult choir will begin at 11 p.m.

* Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road, has scheduled three worship services to celebrate the birth of Christ.

At 6 p.m., a service of lessons and carols, appropriate for every age but with an emphasis on children, will be offered. The children's choir will sing.

The 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Communion services will be enhanced by candlelight and the voices of the adult choir.

* Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church, 8325 Ventnor Road, will offer four Christmas Eve masses and one on Christmas Day.

Tonight, Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and midnight. Caroling will begin 30 minutes before each Mass. The midnight Mass will feature the Chancel Band from Community United Methodist Church.

Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

* Pasadena United Methodist Church, 61 Ritchie Highway, has scheduled its Christmas Eve family service at 6 p.m. tonight.

A service of music, carols and scripture by candlelight will begin at 11 p.m.

* Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, 7859 Tick Neck Road, will offer special music at both services this evening.

At 7 p.m., the Christmas Eve pageant and family Eucharist service will be celebrated with music provided by the children's choir.

At 11 p.m., the handbell and adult choirs will present a Festival of Music, including handbells, anthems, Christmas hymns and carols. The festive celebrations of the Eucharist will begin at 11:30 p.m.

* Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Parish on Virginia Avenue in Riviera Beach will offer six masses on Christmas Eve and three on Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve services for families with children will be held at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the upper church.

Early evening masses for adults, with traditional carols, will be celebrated at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the lower church.

The 8 p.m. liturgy will feature the contemporary music ensemble.

Solemn midnight mass will begin at 11:30 p.m. and feature a choir and handbells.

Masses on Christmas day, featuring traditional carols, are scheduled at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
