Hampstead woman to chair committee

Marilyn Phillips of Hampstead will chair a Carroll committee that advises the Maryland Department of Housing on whether to grant waivers to property owners who say they cannot rehabilitate buildings to meet handicapped-accessibility laws.

Mrs. Phillips currently is a member of the six-member committee, Department of General Services Director J. Michael Evans said yesterday.

The state ultimately decides whether property owners should be granted waivers, Mr. Evans said.
