Cleveland Indians -- Named Jeff Overton vice president for marketing and communications.

Colorado Rockies -- Signed OF Daryl Boston to a one-year contract.

Oakland Athletics -- Signed OF Ruben Sierra to a five-year contract.

Toronto Blue Jays -- Announced that former major-leaguer Jim Nettles will manage the Single-A Hagerstown Suns. He will be assisted by hitting instructor Leroy Stanton, pitching coach Darren Balsley and trainer Dennis Brogna. Signed 1B Craig Stone.

Hickory Crawdads (Single-A) -- Named Curt Hasler and Mark Salas coaches.

Basketball

Philadelphia 76ers -- Placed C Andrew Lang (tendinitis in his left ankle) on the injured list.

Abilene Christian -- Named Ted Sitton offensive coordinator, effective Jan. 1.

Auburn -- New football coach Terry Bowden said he will retain five assistants, including his brother, Tommy, from the staff of former coach Pat Dye. The other assistants are defensive coordinator and assistant head coach Wayne Hall, defensive line coach James Daniel, defensive end coach Joe Whitt and recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner. Tommy Bowden will switch from offensive coordinator to receivers.

Colorado State -- Named Sonny Lubick football coach and signed him to a five-year contract.

Fordham -- Announced that women's soccer will be added as an intercollegiate varsity sport, effective in the fall of 1993.

Cincinnati Bengals -- Announced the retirement of OT Anthony Munoz at the end of the season.

PGA Tour -- Announced it will sanction the World Cup of Golf, starting next year.

Rail Classic -- LPGA tournament in Springfield, Ill., changed its name to State Farm Rail Classic.
