Holiday Buses

December 20, 1992

Harford transportation officials are pleased the county's town-to-town bus service is so popular, but warned riders that during the holidays they may need to reconsider which bus run they take.

Recently too many passengers tried to board the Route 1 bus leaving Havre de Grace at 8:43 a.m. That bus delivers riders to the Harford Mall in Bel Air by 9:50 a.m., minutes before the stores open.

"This bus run is popular, especially with kids home on Christmas vacation. They don't have a car, and the $1 fare can't be beat," said James Macgill, director of the county's transportation service. "But we've only got room for 18 seated passengers and five standing passengers."

To avoid being left behind because the bus is too crowded, Mr. Macgill suggests riders take the Route 1 bus leaving Havre de Grace at 11:13 a.m., or wait for an early afternoon bus.
