Baltimore City

ROBBERY/SHOOTING: Northwestern District -- Corey Baker, 15, of the 3700 block of Mohawk Ave., is in critical condition at Sinai Hospital after being shot in the back Wednesday night during a robbery in the 3100 block of Woodland Ave. Homicide Detective Donald Ossmus said young Baker and some other teen-agers were playing with a dog about 8 p.m. when a gunman approached and ordered all of them to lie down and give him their jewelry. When the boy gave up a ring, the gunman fired one shot, hitting him in the middle of the back. No others were harmed, and the gunman escaped.

BURGLARY TRY: Northern District -- Someone tried to rob the Provident Bank of Maryland branch in the 3100 block of Guilford Ave. early Wednesday morning by placing fishing line with hooks down the night deposit vault. The person was scared off, leaving the fishing line dangling from the edge of the vault.

CHURCH BURGLARY: Northern District -- Several office doors were tampered with by someone who entered the Govans Presbyterian Church in the 3400 block of Old York Road between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning through the front door. Nothing appeared to be missing.

ROBBERY/ASSAULT: Northern District -- An eastern Baltimore County woman was struck in the face with a baseball bat in the 2600 block of Greenmount Ave. Wednesday night by a man who robbed her of $5. The woman was taken to Union Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for a broken nose and released.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Two residents of the 6100 block of Green Meadow Parkway were robbed of their wallets containing money, credit cards and other items by a gunman as they walked near their home Wednesday night.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered a house in the 2700 block of Maryland Ave. through the front door Wednesday morning and stole a 19-inch TV and a VCR, all valued at $260.

BURGLAR: Northern District -- A 20-inch TV valued at $329 was stolen Wednesday morning from a house in the 3700 block of Greenspring Ave.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A deliveryman for Domino's pizza in the 5400 block of East Drive was robbed of $130 Tuesday night by a gunman in the 500 block of S. Wickham Road.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 600 block of Brisbane Ave. of $105 Wednesday morning near the victim's home.

THEFT: Southwestern District -- A man walked into the Penn Optical store in the 2400 block of Frederick Ave. Tuesday afternoon and stole property valued at $357.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 3000 block of Frederick Ave. was robbed of several rings valued at $125 in the 3300 block of Frederick Ave. Tuesday afternoon by a man who pulled them off her fingers.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A couple attacked a resident of the 3400 block of Alto Road in the 1100 block of Franklintown Road Tuesday morning and robbed her of her money and some clothing.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A gunman robbed the High's dairy store in the 3700 block of Wilkens Ave. of $50 Tuesday afternoon before escaping on foot.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the first block of S. Monroe St. was robbed of her purse containing more than $500 Tuesday night by a gunman in the 1800 block of W. Baltimore St.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A man armed with a board robbed a resident of the 3000 block of Park Heights Ave. of $135 in the 1200 block of N. Mount St. early Wednesday morning.

ROBBERY TRY: Western District -- A man stopped a resident of the 2600 block of Shirley Ave. in the 1500 block of Edmondson Ave. early Wednesday morning and asked her for a cigarette. When the woman said she didn't smoke, the man then demanded her money. When the woman resisted, the man struck her in the head with a brick and walked away. The woman was treated for a minor injury at the scene by an ambulance crew and released.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone entered Maceo's Lounge in the 1900 block of N. Monroe St. early Wednesday morning through a second-floor door and stole an undisclosed sum of cash.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 1700 block of McKean Ave. of $15 Tuesday morning near the victim's home.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone entered a house in the 2200 block of Bryant Ave. Tuesday morning and stole $50 from the bedroom.

THEFT: Western District -- A boat and trailer, all valued at $10,000, were stolen between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from outside Whitaker's garage in the 900 block of N. Carey St.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A VCR valued at $300 was stolen Wednesday morning from a house in the 1100 block of Riggs Ave. by someone who entered through a rear door.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Property valued at nearly $1,600 was stolen from a house in the 1000 block of Harlem Ave. Wednesday morning after someone entered through a rear kitchen window.
