* Dr. David M. Maeir, 66, a former professor of pathology at Yeshiva University in New York and director general of Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, died of injuries suffered when he was struck by a car Monday at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, where he had been a resident since 1968.

* Allison Assante, a composer and songwriter and supporter of the homeless, died of a heart attack and stroke on Friday at her daughter Paula Blasband's home in New York City. She was in her early 70s and lived in New York. Mrs. Assante worked for Duke Ellington, and among her better-known compositions were "Goodbye, My Love," "Lonely River" and "Everywhere I Go."
