GOP leader ponders mayoral run

Annapolis business leader Larry Vincent resigned yesterday as vice chairman of the city's Republican Central Committee to explore the possibility of another run for mayor.

Mr. Vincent, owner of Laurance Clothing on Main Street, was the Republican nominee in the 1989 mayoral race won by Democrat Alfred A. Hopkins.

"I am resigning from all the boards I am on because I don't think it's fair to saddle them with any political controversy," Mr. Vincent said. He plans to "test the waters" and make a decision by the end of January.

He said he would base a campaign on addressing "the future of the city, rather than the past."
