Bookstore, cafe to donate 5 percent of checks to help Somalia

To assist hunger relief in Somalia, The Cover to Cover Bookstore Cafe in Owen Brown will donate 5 percent of all cafe checks from Thursday through Christmas Eve to Save the Children.

Chef Glenn Blank, the owner-operator of the cafe, said the idea to aid the people of Somalia came from the servers, who have also agreed to donate their weekly paychecks.

The Cover to Cover Bookstore combines a full-service bookstore with a bistro style restaurant featuring regional American cuisine.

Cafe O'Lite, a monthly series of poetry readings, returns to Cover to Cover at 7:30 p.m. today.

Cafe O'Lite will feature an open stage to allow poets to perform their works. A $3 admission fee includes a 10 percent discount for dinner. The cafe features entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights and during Sunday brunch.

Reservations are accepted but not required. Call: 381-9200.
