Conservation program wins award
The Howard Soil Conservation District, represented by Martha Clark of Glenelg, was honored this month as a Grand Award District in the 45th annual Conservation Awards Program at a convention for award winners in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The program, sponsored by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and National Association of Conservation Districts, encourages local efforts to protect and conserve soil, water, forests, wildlife and other natural resources.
Winning districts are selected based on their success in developing and implementing plans for delivering district programs and services.
Of nearly 3,000 soil and water conservation districts nationwide, Howard County was one of 54 local conservation districts chosen grand award winners based on achievements during 1991.
