SHOWS

Jan. 1-3: 16th annual Chesapeake Sportfishing Show at the National Guard Armory on Hudson Street in Annapolis. Tackle sales, bass guides, clubs, charter captains from the Mid-Atlantic region, seminars on freshwater, tidal and offshore fishing. Show opens at 6 p.m. Jan. 1 and 10 a.m. on Jan. 2 and 3. Admission is $5 for 12 and over; 12 and under admitted free. Call (410) 841-6974.

Jan. 8-10: Bass Expo '93 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. Displays of bass fishing equipment, boats and gear. Bassmasters/Rubbermaid Maryland CastingKids competition and finals. How-to seminars by regional and national pros. The show opens at 2 p.m. on Jan. 8, 9 a.m. on Jan. 9 and 10 a.m. on Jan. 10. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children between 10 and 14. Jan. 16: Fisherman's flea market sponsored by the Central Maryland Bassmasters at Freedom Community Center (Route 32 just south of Route 26). Fishing equipment, boats and door prizes. Admission is $2. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (410) 442-2323.

FISHING

Tuesday: General meeting of the Maryland Chapter of Trout Unlimited at Odd Fellows Hall above Set's Sport Shop in Towson at 7 p.m. Tackle and tying materials swap meet as well as appraisal of antique tackle.

HUNTING

4 Dec. 1-Feb. 10: Snow goose season, four per day.

Dec. 4-11: Canada goose season, one per day.

Dec. 7-12: Woodcock season, three per day.

Dec. 12-Jan. 20: Canada goose season, two per day.

Dec. 15-Jan. 9: Duck season, three per day under proper guidelines.

Dec. 19-Jan. 2: Muzzleloader season for deer.

Through Jan. 30: Bow season for deer (bow may be used during balance of firearms and muzzleloader seasons, but hunter orange must be worn).

Dec. 21-26: Dove season, 12 per day.

BOATING

Jan. 13: Open-boat sailing lecture by Webb Chiles at the Annapolis Marriott Hotel, 7:30 p.m. Chiles set the record for open-boat sailing with a voyage of more than 20,000 miles. Tickets are $10. Call 1-800-937-BOAT.

HIKING

Wednesday: Mountain Club of Maryland hike in Anne Arundel County. Call (410) 647-0734.

Saturday: MCM hike at Little Bennett Regional Park in Montgomery County.

Dec. 20: MCM hike along C&O Canal from Snyders Landing to Cedar Grove. Call (410) 442-5785.

Dec. 23: MCM hike in Avalon area of Patapsco State Park.
