Havre de Grace house broken into

State Police caught a Baltimore man sought in connection with a theft in Havre de Grace, but two other suspects in the crime eluded them after a high-speed chase Thursday down Interstate 95.

The chase ended when the get-away car crashed on Interstate 695 near Golden Ring Mall.

Baltimore County police arrested Steven Paul Anthony McCain, 23, and charged him with breaking and entering after chasing him on foot from the crash scene.

Warrants were issued in Harford County for Mr. McCain, charging him with daytime breaking and entering and theft of more than $300.

The incident began when Harford Sheriff's deputies got a telephone call from a homeowner in the first block of Paradise Road in Havre de Grace. The caller said his house had been broken into and a black vehicle was leaving the driveway, headed toward Route 155.

Moments later, state police patrolling Interstate 95 saw a black 1987 Toyota Cressida occupied by three men speeding south. When officers tried to pull the car over, a 15-mile chase began.

After the crash, the suspects ran away.

Police recovered two handguns, jewelry, camera equipment and cash from the car.
