Baseball Orioles -- Agreed to terms with 2B Harold Reynolds on a one-year contract. Placed 2B Bill Ripken on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. Re-signed six-year minor-league P Dave Miller and former Cleveland Indians IF Tommy Hinzo to Triple-A contracts.

California Angels -- Agreed to terms with OF Chili Davis on a one-year contract.

Chicago Cubs -- Agreed to terms with OF Candy Maldonado on a two-year contract.

Cincinnati Reds -- Signed IF-OF Juan Samuel to a one-year, guaranteed contract with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Detroit Tigers -- Signed P Bill Kreuger to a two-year contract.

Montreal Expos -- Named Mike Quade manager of its Triple-A Ottawa farm team in the International League.

Basketball NBA -- Fined Chicago Bulls G Michael Jordan $5,000 and Bulls F Scottie Pippen $3,000 for derogatory comments made about the officiating following a Dec. 8 game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Golden State Warriors -- Activated G Jeff Grayer from the injured list. Placed G Keith Jennings on the injured list.

Colleges Cameron -- Dropped its football program as regents governing the school voted unanimously to abandon the sport because of declining public support.

Kentucky -- Named Mike Archer defensive coordinator.

Pittsburgh -- Named Johnny Majors football coach and signed him to a four-year contract.

Football Chicago Bears -- Placed WR Tom Waddle and LB Dante Jones on injured reserve. Added WR Eric Wright and T Louis Age from the practice squad.
