Union National begins renovations in Finksburg

Union National Bank's Finksburg branch, at 2926 Baltimore Blvd., will undergo renovations during the next several weeks.

The bank's drive-through window will be closed, but other transactions and business will be conducted as usual.

The bank's hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Jim Piet elected HOW council secretary

Jim Piet of Masonry Contractors has been elected secretary of the Home Owners Warranty (HOW) Council board of directors for 1993.

He has been with HOW for three years.

Vision center adds retinal scan to exam

Dr. Robert Dobrusin of Eldersburg Optical has added retinal photography as part of eye examinations.

The retinal camera takes a picture of the retina, which is the part of the eye that allows information to be transmitted to the brain, for future comparisons and diagnostic information.

The retinal photo also can be used to determine abnormalities,such as cataracts.

Eldersburg Optical is in Eldersburg Plaza on Liberty Road.

Gary Blucher chosen home builders' leader

Gary B. Blucher, construction manager for Masonry Contractors, was recently elected president of the Home Builders Association of Maryland.

The 1993 officers were installed at the group's annual banquet Dec. 2 at Martin's West.

A past president of the Carroll County chapter of HBAM, Mr. Blucher has been in the building industry for 25 years. He also has held several board positions and chaired committees.

Jeffrey Powers was elected Carroll chapter president for 1993.
