Survey looks at the good and bad in Severna Park

Initial results of a survey taken by the Greater Severna Park Council of area residents show that homeowners value low-density housing and single-family dwellings and also believe the neighborhood is a good place to raise a family, the council was told Tuesday.

Access to water sports and the library ranked as less important on a four-point scale, said Dan Nataf, the council's public works chairman.

Traffic congestion on major roadways was listed as thcommunity's most severe problem, followed by excessive growth and development and unsightly development.

High property taxes, the high cost of living and too many signs in the wrong places ranked as lesser problems, said Mr. Nataf, who works as a statistician for the state.

Full results of the survey, which was sent to 8,000 homes last fall, should be available by the next council meeting, he said.
