Bullets aide Blair to be released today

December 09, 1992|By Alan Goldstein

Washington Bullets assistant coach Bill Blair will be released from Washington Hospital Center today after undergoing minor surgery Monday to increase the blood flow in his right coronary artery.

Blair was admitted to Anne Arundel Medical Center on Thursday after complaining of chest pains and was transferred to Washington Hospital Center to undergo further tests. A balloon was inserted to relieve the problem in his clogged artery, and the surgery was deemed successful.

The veteran NBA coach, who also served as an aide in New Jersey and Chicago before joining the Bullets in 1986, will undergo a stress test next week.

If he is given a clean bill of health, Blair will return to his coaching duties next Thursday, when the Bullets return from their five-game West Coast swing to play the Chicago Bulls.
