Sheriff turns over profits from calendar

December 09, 1992

Sheriff John Brown presented a check in the amount of $1,200 to the county commissioners Tuesday, stating, "I hope some of this will come back to my office."

The check, the third consecutive one presented to the county since Sheriff Brown took office in 1990, is the profit from advertising space sold to businesses in the area in the "Sheriff's Calendar."

Each of the past calendars has had a theme to reduce and fight drug use, and the 1993 calendar will display the "Drug Bug," a VW beetle painted to resemble a police car.

The idea for the "Sheriff's Calendar" was conceived by the department, and copies are distributed by deputies throughout Carroll County. Calendars for 1993 will be available by the end of the year or early next year, according to a spokesman.
