MTA discusses Linthicum light rail

Linthicum residents will get an update tonight on the progress of light rail construction in their area.

A state Mass Transit Administration official will answer questions about the southern portion of the line during the monthly meeting of the Linthicum/Shipley Improvement Association. The group meets at 7:30 p.m. at Linthicum Elementary.

Beth Robinson, liaison for the southern portion of light rail, will answer questions during the meeting.

Workers began building parking lots, platforms and tracks last spring on more than 6 miles of light rail, the southern portion of a 22.5-mile line from Timonium to Dorsey Road.

The state has opened 16 miles of the $443 million system.

The remainder will open next summer, with passenger stations at Baltimore Highlands, Nursery Road, North Linthicum, Linthicum, Ferndale, Dorsey Road and Baltimore and Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie.
