Towson goes cold in 71-56 defeat

SPRINGFIELD, MO. — TC SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Rodney Perry led all scorers with 21 points as Southwest Missouri State beat Towson State, 71-56, last night.

Towson (1-2) opened a 10-2 lead with 15 minutes, 21 seconds left in the first half and then went three minutes without scoring.

The Bears answered with a 17-2 run in nine minutes to take a 19-12 lead with 6:15 left in the first half.

In the second half, Towson's Devin Boyd hit two free throws to bring the Tigers within 50-45, the closest they would get, with 8:31 left to play. Boyd fouled out with 1:18 left.
