ORLANDO, Fla. -- Rich DeVos, principal owner of the Orlando Magic, was in stable condition yesterday at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., after his moderate heart attack early Sunday morning.

DeVos, 66, was at the hospital when the heart attack occurred, having been warned a few hours earlier by a pain down his arm.

The heart attack followed a recovery period from a mild stroke that DeVos had July 8. He previously underwent open-heart surgery in 1983.

DeVos, whose family home is in nearby Ada, Mich., is co-founder and president of Amway Corp., a direct merchandising company.

A recent survey by Forbes magazine listed his worth at $1.5 billion.
