* Mrs. Charles Switzer is chairman of the annual Starlighter Bazaar, which will be held this Saturday in the Drum Corps headquarters on West Main Street. The Starlighter Junior Drum and Bugle Corps and its booster club will award a beautiful RCA 25-inch color television. The money realized from this project will help pay off money borrowed to purchase uniforms last spring and also to purchase new bugles and horns. Democratic Advocate, Nov. 16, 1967

* The surprise half-hour air raid test Friday afternoon caused many of the civilian defense workers to come to their posts. This was the first Maryland daylight alert. The warning throughout Carroll County was given by fire sirens, church bells and factory whistles. The Westminster Minute Men and State Guard were prompt in reporting at the armory. 75 Years Ago

* New Windsor -- The Civic League awarded a prize of a 2 1/2 -dollar gold piece to the one who caught the most flies the past season, which was Miss Helen Warner. She trapped and sold 22 quarts of them at 15 cents per quart. Union Bridge Pilot, Nov. 16, 1917.
