25 Years Ago (week of Nov. 26-Dec. 2, 1967):

* Hearings for the rezoning of a 3.3-acre site off Saint Johns Lane for a concrete plant continued this week. After two four-hour sessions, no decision had been reached.

* Columbia planners and the Board of Education were at loggerheads over the size of Columbia's proposed Wilde Lake Middle School. Columbia's plans called for a 1,200-student middle school that would feed directly into a 1,200-student high school. However, the Board of Education's guidelines dictated that middle schools contain 750-800 students.

50 Years Ago (week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5, 1942):

* The Air Raid Wardens of the Second District decided to place an additional air raid siren on lower Main Street in Ellicott City to help correct a "dead" area where existing sirens could not be heard.
