Hillary Clinton role as aide to be 'major'

December 06, 1992|By From Staff Reports

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Will Hillary Clinton have a major role at the White House? You bet, says President-elect Bill Clinton's communications director, George Stephanopoulos.

"I expect she is going to play a major role in the White House in assisting the president, in advising the president," Mr. Stephanopoulos said on CNN's "Evans and Novak," which aired on television yesterday and was taped Friday.

Will she sit in on meetings of top policy-makers in the White House? "Of course," he said. But it's unclear whether she'll have a title. "I think that's something Governor Clinton and Mrs. Clinton will decide."

Mr. Stephanopoulos said, "We know that she'll play an active role and work on families and kids and several issues."
