Lions again loaded with potential BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PREVIEW Howard

Some county coaches think that Howard's boys basketball team for years has been a sleeping giant. And they also think that first-year coach Kevin Broadus may awaken that giant this season.

The Lions' usual wealth of talent is enhanced this year by the transfer from North Carolina of brothers Javier and Jevon Michaux.

Javier, a 6-foot-3 junior forward, is touted by one opposing coach as one of the most talented players in the county. Jevon is a 5-8 guard.

The Lions return four players from last season's 5-14 team -- all of them seniors. The only returning starter is point guard Mike Brown.

The other returning players include 6-5 guard/forward Jeremy Milan, 6-1 forward Jamaal Tyler and 5-11 guard Clint Totten.

L A newcomer who might start is 6-1 senior center Dwight Case.

Aaron Graf, a 6-2 junior guard, was the junior varsity's leading scorer last season and will press for playing time. Two other juniors are point guard Kevin Daniels and guard Brian Bush.

In addition to Case, Howard has two other seniors who didn't play last year, 6-1 forward Chris Thatch and 5-10 forward Kirk Wise.

"We have the potential to rebound well and our scoring should be spread out," Broadus said.
