Milwaukee Brewers -- Agreed to terms with OF Robin Yount on a one-year contract with an option. Named Gene Clines batting coach.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Named Chris Maloney manager and Ramon Ortiz coach at Single-A Savannah; Steve Turco manager and Mauricio Nunez coach at Single-A Glens Falls; Joe Cunningham manager and Orlando Thomas coach at Rookie League Johnson City; and Roy Silver manager and Tim Redman coach at Rookie League Chandler.

San Diego Padres -- Signed C Bob Geren to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Seattle Mariners -- Agreed to terms with P Chris Bosio on a four-year contract worth $15.25 million.

Basketball

Cleveland Cavaliers -- Traded G Steve Kerr from the Cleveland Cavaliers for a 1996 second-round draft choice. Activated F Jerome Lane.

Orlando Magic -- Waived G Chris Corchiani.

Gator Bowl -- Named Rick Catlett executive director of the Gator Bowl Association, effective Jan. 1.

Connecticut -- Announced that basketball co-captain Toraino Walker was suspended from the team indefinitely because he missed four consecutive practices without an excuse.

Louisiana State -- Announced the resignation of Buddy King, offensive line coach, so he can join the Arkansas staff.

Mississippi State -- Extended the contract of Jackie Sherrill, football coach, through the 1996 season.

Tarleton State -- Announced the resignation of Hal McAfee, football coach.

Temple -- Named Steve Goldman assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach.

UCLA -- Announced retirement of Glenn Bassett, who coached the tennis team to seven NCAA titles in 27 years.

Wagner -- Announced it will add women's soccer at the NCAA Division I level beginning in the 1993-94 season.

Green Bay Packers -- Named Thomas Pepper Burruss, assistant trainer for the New York Jets, head trainer, effective Jan. 1.

Hockey

Pittsburgh Penguins -- Announced that D Ulf Samuelsson will miss two to four weeks with a broken cheekbone suffered Nov. 27 against the Washington Capitals.

Soccer

Milwaukee Wave (NPSL) -- Acquired D Matt Knowles from the Denver Thunder for an undisclosed amount of cash.
