Sylvan View group opposes resident's plan to replace pier

The Sylvan View Community Association has challenged a neighbor's plans to replace his pier on Grays Creek.

The county Board of Appeals will hear the community's objections at a hearing at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in the Arundel Center in Annapolis.

The county's Permit Application Center has granted Robert Calvert a building permit to build a 75-foot pier and a 20-foot L-shaped pier extension to the left at 2 Grays Road.

Sylvan View residents have complained that the new structure would block their access to a pier in their community marina.

Information: 222-1119.

* Magothy Beach: A man reported to police that someone stole tools and a ladder from his vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of his home in the 200 block of Creek Blvd. on Tuesday.
