Boston Red Sox -- Agreed to terms with IF Scott Fletcher on a two-year contract.

Chicago Cubs -- Agreed to terms with P Jose Guzman on a four-year contract.

Cincinnati Reds -- Offered P Greg Swindell salary arbitration, enabling the club to negotiate with him through Jan. 8. Claimed 1B Tommy Gregg on waivers from the Atlanta Braves and agreed to terms with Gregg on a one-year contract.

Florida Marlins -- Signed an agreement with the High Desert Mavericks of the Single-A California League.

Houston Astros -- Agreed to terms with P Doug Drabek on a four-year contract.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Agreed to terms with OF Eric Davis on a one-year contract worth $1 million plus the chance to earn $1 million in bonuses.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Named Bill Bryk special assistant to the scouting director; Tom Barnard, Michael Williams, Jim Nelson and David Klipstein scouting supervisors; and Ron King and Kevin Towers national scouting cross-checkers.

San Francisco Giants -- Fired manager Roger Craig. Named Bob Quinn GM and signed him to a three-year contract. Named Larry Baer executive VP.

Seattle Mariners -- Named Paul Isaki, director of the Washington state Department of Trade and Economic Development, to the newly created position of vice president of business development.


Cleveland Cavaliers -- Activated C Brad Daugherty. Placed C Jay Guidinger (tendinitis and bursitis in left knee) on the injured list.

Phoenix Suns -- Signed F Alex Stivrins.

Washington Bullets -- Activated G Rex Chapman. Waived C Greg Foster.

CBA -- Reinstated F Ken Bannister (Southwestern), who then signed with the Capital Region Pontiacs.

Columbus Horizon (CBA) -- Placed former Washington Bullets G Byron Irvin on the injured list.


Blue-Gray All-Star Classic -- Invited following Maryland Terrapins to the Gray team for the Dec. 25 football game in Montgomery, Ala.: coach Mark Duffner, offensive coordinator Dan Dorazio, LB Mike Jarmolowich and QB John Kaleo.

Butler -- Announced the resignation of Langdon Kumler, men's soccer coach.

Cincinnati -- Fired John Lovett, defensive coordinator, and Ted Daisher, defensive line coach. Promoted offensive line and running game coordinator Harry Hiestand to offensive coordinator.

Kentucky -- Announced the resignation of Larry New, defensive coordinator.

Southwestern Louisiana -- Announced that Nelson Stokley will step down as AD to devote more time to his job as football coach. Named Nelson Schexnader AD.


Atlanta Falcons -- Placed DE Tim Green (elbow) on IR. Green had played in 70 straight games. Activated DL Bill Goldberg from their practice squad. Re-signed G John Buddenberg to the practice squad.

Seattle Seahawks -- Placed CB James Jefferson (broken right forearm) on IR.


San Jose Sharks -- Recalled F Rob Gaudreau and F Ray Whitney from IHL Kansas City.


Milwaukee Wave (IHL) -- Released D Kevin Grimes.
