The University of Richmond has signed McDonogh's Kenny Cloude to a national letter of intent.

A right-handed pitcher and shortstop, Cloude was The Baltimore Sun's Player of the Year last spring.

He compiled a 13-1 record with a 1.92 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 83 2/3 innings. He batted .429 with 12 doubles, 35 RBI and 22 runs scored.

"We feel Kenny will fit in well here at Richmond," said ninth-year head coach Ron Atkins. "He is not only an outstanding athlete but an outstanding student as well. We feel Kenny will be an impact player for us."

The Richmond Spiders were 32-17 overall in 1992 and 12-5 in the Colonial Athletic Association, good for second place.
