November 25, 1992|By From Staff Reports

Maryland coach Mark Duffner has received an oral commitment from Pete Sorrentino, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive guard from Staten Island, N.Y.

Sorrentino chose the Terps after narrowing his choices to Maryland, Clemson, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Indiana, said his mother, Linda Sorrentino. As a senior at Curtis High on Staten Island, he was named to city and borough all-star teams.

Also, Maryland has changed the date for its 1993 homecoming game because of Atlantic Coast Conference scheduling revisions. Instead of meeting Duke on Oct. 23, the Terps will play host to the Blue Devils on Oct. 16. Several other dates also were revised. The new schedule:

Sept. 4..... Virginia

Sept. 11.... at North Carolina

Sept. 18.... West Virginia

Sept. 25.... at Virginia Tech

Oct. 2...... Penn State

Oct. 9...... at Georgia Tech

Oct. 16..... Duke (homecoming)

Oct. 30..... at Clemson

Nov. 6...... Florida State

Nov. 13..... at N.C. State

Nov. 20..... at Wake Forest
