* Ted Lawler, Oakland Mills, Jr., striker -- He scored 12 goals and was feared for his speed. He scored two goals in a crucial 3-2 win over Howard.

* Scott Cline, Glenelg, Sr., halfback -- Cline led his team in scoring with 13 goals and 12 assists. "He's a great technician who is strong in the air and distributes well," Glenelg coach John Bouman said.

* Derek Phillips, Atholton, Sr., halfback -- Led his team in scoring with 10 goals and two assists. He's a highly skilled player who scored the winning goals against Oakland Mills and Loyola.

* Doug Ulman, Centennial, Soph., halfback -- Led his team in scoring with nine goals. Highly skilled, his positive play always had an effect on a game's outcome.

* Chris Arcella, Centennial, Sr., halfback -- Scored five goals and had two assists. "He was our creative one," said coach Bill Stara. "He's a good dribbler who dished off and controlled the midfield."

* Jay Holmes, Oakland Mills, Sr., fullback -- Holmes led a defense that allowed only 12 goals and had five shutouts. Tremendous speed en

abled the sweeper to cover a lot of ground.

* Keever Frye, Glenelg, Sr., fullback -- A converted striker, Frye exhibited outstanding speed and athletic ability. "He's a fighter who's not afraid to take risks and a player with a lot of character," coach John Bouman said.

* Werner Krueger, Centennial, Sr., fullback -- Krueger had a knack for beating attackers to the ball. "He cleaned up everyone's mistakes and was our main enforcer," Centennial coach Bill Stara said.

* Alex Denno, Atholton, Sr., fullback -- Opponents feared his long kicks that set up his team's scoring opportunities. A Division I prospect, Denno scored four goals and had four assists.

* Russell Payne, Glenelg, Sr., goalkeeper -- Payne was Glenelg's field leader and made many sensational saves. He recorded seven shutouts and allowed only 14 goals.

* Dan Christine, Centennial, Jr., goalkeeper -- He recorded eight shutouts and allowed just nine goals. He never allowed more than two goals in a game.
