FIRE, POLICE LOG

* A wooden barn in Lisbon suffered $20,000 in damage in a fire Thursday evening, county fire officials said.

The fire was contained to the second floor of the two-story, 400-square-foot barn in the 15700 block of Woodbine Morgan Road, said Donald Howell, spokesman for the county Department of Fire and Rescue Services. The second floor contained mostly hay.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Mr. Howell said.

The fire was reported at 6:38 p.m. by the barn's owner, Brian Rutledge, Mr. Howell said. Firefighters left the scene at 9:06 p.m.

Thirty firefighters from four fire stations -- Lisbon, Winfield, Mount Airy and Sykesville -- fought the blaze, Mr. Howell said. No one was injured.
