Woman killed crossing Forest Drive

A 19-year-old Annapolis woman died Wednesday night after she was hit by a car while walking home from work, city police said.

Gina Lehn, of the first block of Janwall Court, was crossing

Forest Drive, a busy, four-lane highway, when a 1992 Mercury Sable station wagon hit her at about 5:40 p.m.

She was flown by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she was pronounced dead two hours later.

Police said Ms. Lehn had crossed three lanes of traffic before being hit by the station wagon in the westbound slow lane.

Annapolis police and paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at 5:46 p.m., two minutes after a passerby called to report the accident.

The driver of the station wagon, Michele McBride, 21, of the 100 block of Groh Lane in Annapolis, apparently did not see the woman in the dark. Ms. McBride was not hurt, but her car was badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene, police said.

The State's Attorney Office is investigating the accident.
