Laurel man robbed by 3 hitchhikers

A 32-year-old Laurel man was robbed Wednesday after he picked up three hitchhikers on Route 198, county police reported.

Investigators said the man picked up hitchhikers at 9 p.m. who said they wanted to go to Spring Road in Laurel. When they reached their destination, the hitchhikers assaulted the driver, took $6 from his wallet and smashed the car windows, police said.

Odenton boy charged in school bus scrap

A 16-year-old Odenton boy was charged with battery after another boy complained that he was punched Monday while trying to board a school bus at Arundel Senior High.

According to the police report, the 16-year-old allegedly asked a 15-year-old Arundel High School student to buy drugs for him. When the boy refused, the 16-year-old allegedly hit him and blocked him from getting on the bus.

The 15-year-old reported the incident to school officials who called police. Officers found the 16-year-old walking in woods near the school.

He was taken to Western District station, where he was charged on a juvenile citation and released to his mother.


* Crofton: Vandals broke into three homes under construction on Shadywood Circle and Shadywood Court sometime this week and stole several appliances. Their value was undetermined.
